2010 Lobo Volleyball Seniors- video

It Has Arrived....

Now it is officially time to start being excited about the holidays.  I can't wait! Thanksgiving always just seems to fly by and Christmas will be right around the corner before we know it! I got to celebrate my thanksgiving with my boyfriends family and it was a very good time.  We had an amazing meal courtesy of Laura Merino and I instantly was put into a food coma and that was even before dessert! yum! It's been alittle while since I've had a homecooked thanksgiving due to our volleyball team being out of town everyother Thanksgiving! Last year was New Orleans, and two years ago it was Vegas.  Oh the travels a volleyball team will take you on.

Well now that Thanksgiving is officially over I can 1. listen to Christmas music, but 2. It's my Senior Night Game! I can't believe the road I have been on and now it is almost finally over.  I came into UNM just hoping to play a few games in college and I have been so blessed with the amount God has given me.  I hope tonight is a special night and that I just remember to soak it all in.  It's hard when the end is so close and trying to hold onto those moments is where it gets difficult.  But my family is in town, my boyfriend and his family are all here, and the loyal fans that have just been an amazing group are going to be there as well.  So let's go lobos, one more time!

SENIOR NIGHT AND THANKSGIVING

Boy! Life is certainly getting quite busy with school, volleyball, and just life! I am getting ready for my last home match of the year at Johnson Center and I already had a little emotional time saying goodbye to my weights coach Joaquin! He is a very manly guy and he was in tears as we all said our goodbyes which was so touching.  I am so thankful for him and what he was able to do with my toothpick arms and legs when I came in as a freshman! :-) But personally now I am looking forward to not bulking up doing max squats and cleans but maybe slimming down haha!
Freshman year =tan legs
Senior year= white, pastey legs
oh the changes haha

But we have another day off on this wonderful Tuesday and I am spending it working on group projects, group projects, and oh group projects!!  But Recently I was able to give a photo shoot for my team mate and one of my best friends Jade Michaelsen Whom I love!!! She had me take her graduation pictures for her and I absolutely love photographing people and people in love :-) so weddings, engagments, portraits, etc! Here is some of the work I created in our little photoshoot:

I love her and her gorgeous face was so fun to photograph! Soon I am going to photograph potentially my future nephew :-) and his cute face! :-) But I can't wait!

Well until some more updates!

Baby!

I'm so proud of my boyfriends sister and her fiance! They just brought into the world a beautiful baby boy, William Thomas O'brien.  After 16 hours of intense labor he came at 8:27 pm and was a wonderful and perfect baby boy! They are beyond blessed.  He has the cutest little face and features. I could just stare at him for hours.  I can't wait to be a baby sitter/ auntie one day! ;-)

Here is baby William!

Tryouts... dun dun dun

Today is the day I get to pick my seventeen club team for New Mexico Juniors! I can't wait to coach those girls. They are going to be quite the talented bunch.  I'm excited to be coaching because it will keep me involved in my UNM volleyball girls after I am done playing in december.  Also I love coaching! :-) I hope the day runs smoothly and quick.  It's going to be a long day 1pm to 7pm basically evaluating, coaching, and testing hundreds of volleyball applicants! may God give my knee caps strength to withstand being on my feet all day!

Well this weekend was quite the emotional weekend for UNM volleyball.  We, for the first time in my career, took down #13 in the nation Colorado State.  I was so proud of my girls and I was so happy to succceed.  I have been wanting to beat them since I was a freshman and I am pleased to say that we did it 3-0!!!! It was quite the night.  But we could not let our emotions get the best of us because we still had to play Wyoming, a must win for our season.  But it never ceases to amaze me how everyone can do so well together, and we won 3-0 even after such an emotional high against CSU.  We even set some records with our libero and my roomate digging her 1000 th dig! and my setter and one of my BFF's Jade reaching her 4000th assist! So it was a good week for UNM volleyball!

Well off to pick my group of champions! haha! Here are a few pictures from the weekend! Enjoy!

Hitting during one of our games!
team huddle for inspiration!! perhaps :-)

Rain drops on Roses....

This morning I woke up to quite the unusual sound for Albuquerque, Rain drops falling on my window pane.  I have been wanting this brisk cool weather to come over this city just to make the holiday season feel closer. I can't wait to be bundled up back home in front of a fire place, drinking coffee in the morning, and just reading all the books I have been wanting to read.  It's the little things in life that just seem to become little miracles throughout my day.

Last night I had a wonderful time with "Lloydy poos" (which all my friends seem to be calling him) and couldn't ask for a better end to my day.  After volleyball practice I went over to his place where he is staying at this moment and we both decided that pizza for dinner sounded amazing! So thinking Trader Joes would suffice as a yummy pizza provider, we went there, but we definitely didn't see any that made our stomachs happy.  So we did a phone order to Dion's, a local pizza chain, that is quite amazing! We took our pepperoni and green chili topped pizza (which I now cannot get enough of, I love GREEN CHILI~) and we went back and had some fresh fruit, pizza, and talked into the night. After we began watching reruns of Family Guy... or I watched reruns of Family Guy and Lloyd worked steadily on his bike! I ended with the new Conan show and was very happy! So basically last night= awesome!

Now I am sitting lazily listening to the busy cars rush by on the street and wanting to never join them for the day.  But school awaits! Well off to remove myself from my bed!

Two days to be a normal student...Question Mark....

TCU at Johnson Center + Lobos = us winning! DONE! We won pretty easily last night and it was a fun game.  My teammate, partner in crime, sister, and more, Ashley Rhoades was a beast on the court and completely dominated! If she doesn't get Mountain West Conference Player of the week I will be alittle upset!

Well since we won our postgame talk consisted of the words "well you get two days to be a normal student!" from our head coach Jeff Nelson.  Well we all thought that it meant that we get 2 days off monday and tuesday and we were all outstanded! but sadly it did not mean that apparently we get the weekend off... but EVERYONE gets the weekend off!!! haha It was quite funny so now I am enjoying being a normal student on my weekend. mmmm feels so different...

I actually have a celebration of Lloyds Birthday slash getting together with the Merino family tonight and that will be tons of fun! I love his family.  So blessed to have them so accepting and just so fun! :-) So that will be all part of my normal student day... haha oh man! I love my Merinos!

Well everyone enjoy being normal students today!!

Time seems to be flying... yet still so slow

Today we had our first official in the middle of the week DAY OFF! It was quite weird not to have anything scheduled between the hours of 2-6pm. But I spent it doing alittle shopping, catching up on sleep, and just doing nothing.  It was quite a lazy day. But tomorrow will be right back to the gym and right back to volleyball because we have TCU coming up which will be a fun game.  It's the only match we have this week so I am happy to have Saturday and Sunday for some down time and by down time I mean catch up on Homework and projects that are due soon! Oh I am excited for the day with no assignments!!

Well today is the day of my 14 month mark of dating the Lloyd Merino.  It was celebrated by some wings, drinks, and sports at Buffalo Wild Wings, maybe we werent celebrating that there, but it was sure a fun time and I would deem it a celebration! I love just being able to hang out and watch the world series and the colts game... minus I'm sad my Colorado teams are sucking this year. ohhhhh welllll.... But just some good quality fun! So yay to 14 months and hope for many more to come!

Heres alittle memory lane for our relationship.... <3

Lisa Meeter + Lloyd Merino = LM squared!!

Camping in the summer when we first met!

Loving our hammock we set up... or Lloyd set up, I watched

Laying in the sun not a care in the world

oh how he makes me laugh

I love you babe!

As life goes by I am just so taken back by how much I need God to keep my head on straight in life.  I get so mentally and I would say spiritually distracted as the busyness of school and life get going.  I need to constantly redirect my thinking to thoughts that would portray my sole purpose of being to love and acknowledge God.  I need to take some time to myself and really discover the love and passion of God again and just find the true meaning of why I am here and living this life.  I have a lot of free time ahead of me and I want to use it to benefit others and just truly fufill my purpose.  I am excited to see the possibility of that but I need to shut up sometimes and let the silent whisper and pull of God lead me to where I am supposed to go.  I have messed up more times than not and I think some appreciation for God is in need.  So thank you God for all that you have given me even though I am far from deserving.  I love you!
